A Wee Bit of HistoryJuly 20th, 1837 - The first missionaries, Heber C. Kimball, Orson Hyde, Willard Richards, and Joseph Fielding arrive in Preston, England to share the Gospel; these were the first missionaries in the United Kingdom.
December 20th, 1839 - Alexander Wright and Samuel Mulliner, native Scots living in Canada, became the first Scottish missionaries when they arrived in Glasgow. May 8th, 1840 - Orson Pratt arrives in Scotland; LDS Church membership approaches 80 members. May 23rd, 1840 - Reuben Hedlock becomes the first member to visit Ireland. June 28th, 1840 - The first 3 converts in Ireland are baptized. 1961 - The Scotland/Ireland mission was formed. 1962 - The Scotland/Ireland Mission was split, becoming two separate missions. 2010 - The Scotland and Ireland missions reunite to create the Scotland/Ireland Mission |
